How to Book
Check Properties:
Using our latest new features "My Favourite Properties" and "My Bookings", review the selection of properties in the region of your choice and determine those properties you are interested in. Ensure you satisfy the criteria for renting the properties (i.e. smokers, children, pets, max. number of people, etc.). Please read Information About Renting.

Check Availability
There are two ways to check availability:
1. Availability per Region
If you are looking to stay during a specific time-frame, but have not yet determined the specific property where you will stay, your best bet is to use the Availability Chart shown for each region (Sample Chart). Here you will find the availability for ALL properties in that region in one easy-to-read chart. Available dates are shown in green. Unavailable dates are shown in red or have no colour at all.2. Availability per Property
If you click on the picture of any property that catches your eye, you will be taken to a page containing all the details for that specific property including an availability calendar (Sample Calendar). Available dates are shown in green. Unavailable dates are shown in red.Online Booking Request: To request a booking, click on the dates of your choice to ensure you meet the minimum stay requirement (which will appear as yellow). Then fill in the number of guests [adults/children/pets]. Once you have double-checked this is correct, click the "Send Booking Request" beneath it. Please note that this is a Booking Request and not a final booking at this stage.
Pet Fees
Any additional fees that are charged with respect to guests traveling with their pet are a reflection of the additional cleaning costs incurred by a property owner for accepting pets. The fee is not a financial penalty applied to the guest who is traveling with their pet.
Confirmation of Booking
After forwarding a booking agreement to you, we will hold your property for 10 days. If we have not received your fully executed signed booking agreement and all required payments (see below under "Payment") within that time, we will release the property for rental to others. If, for any reason, you forward payment to us but we are unable to confirm your booking, we will return all money received in full.
Rental Rates
All funds are in Canadian dollars. All vacation rental rates are subject to provincial 8% Hotel Room Tax (10% in Kelowna, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler) and $42 booking fee. G.S.T. (5%) only applies to those properties who indicate as such in their rates section of their listing. Credit card fee of 3% applies if using your credit card.
Payment
You are welcome to pay by cheque, money order, certified cheque, cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express.
The following is required to confirm your reservation:
(a) for bookings made more than 6 weeks before the start of the rental, the following is required:
- 40% of the rental payment & tax + $42.00 [including GST] booking fee, due at time of booking;
- 60% of the rental payment & tax + pet or cleaning fees [if applicable], if paying by cheque, please post-date for 6 weeks before the start of the rental;
- 100% of the rental payment + $42.00 [including GST] booking fee + accommodation tax, by currently dated cheque; or you can pay by credit card
- if the rental is to begin less than 3 weeks from the date the executed rental agreement will be received by Great Spots!, payment must be made by cash, certified cheque, credit card or money order.
Security Deposit
When booking, you must authorize Great Spots! to charge against your credit card an amount up to the amount of the damage deposit specified in the booking agreement. You must provide, on the booking agreement, the credit card number, the expiry date and the name on the credit card.
Alternatively, the security deposit may be paid by cheque and added to the final rent cheque referred to above. The security deposit will only be charged against the credit card if Great Spots! is instructed to make a claim against the deposit by the owner of the property.
Cheques and money orders should be made payable to Great Spots! Recreation Properties Ltd. We accept personal cheques from Canadian bank accounts only.
If paying by credit card, you can either fax your completed booking form to us at 604-526-5901 (1-604-526-5901 anywhere outside lower mainland), or scan and email a copy of your completed booking form to us.

Cancellation
If you cancel a confirmed booking, you are liable for the full rental payment and booking fee. We will attempt to re-rent the property and, if successful, we will refund to you the lesser of (i) the rental payment received on the re-rental and (ii) the amount paid by you, less a cancellation fee of 15% of the rental payment. We will return the accommodation tax and the security deposit (if applicable) in either event.
Due to unexpected circumstances that may arise and prevent you from traveling, or the possibility of any misfortunes that you may experience while on your vacation, it is strongly recommended that renters purchase travel Insurance. We do not supply insurance coverage, but you may be able to obtain it from your financial institution, insurance agent/broker or perhaps your credit card provider may extend this coverage. Directions and Keys
We will send you directions and other information regarding your property approximately 4 weeks prior to the commencement of your rental, via email.
Check-In and Check-Out
Bookings are generally from Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday, although there are exceptions. Check in time is not before 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival and check out time is not later than 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure [unless otherwise stated]. It is important that you respect these times so that the owner has an opportunity to ensure that the property is ready for you or for the next renter.
