Information About Renting

Great Spots! acts as Agent

Great Spots! Recreation Properties Ltd. ("Great Spots") specializes in the rental of privately owned vacation rental properties as agent for the owners of the properties. Great Spots! does not own nor have control over any of the properties and is not liable in any way as a result of any act or omission of the owner of a property, the state or condition of the property or in any other manner with respect to a property.

Property Information

All information regarding the properties has been obtained by Great Spots! from the owners of the properties and Great Spots! assumes no responsibility for any misdescription regarding the properties.

Children

The fact that children are permitted at a property does not imply that the property is perfectly safe for children. Parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times.

Safety

Our properties are located primarily in rural, often rugged, settings - consequently, their use will involve safety risks which you may not encounter at your home. These risks are entirely your responsibility.

Pets

Pets may not be brought to properties except those that expressly allow pets as indicated in the property description. Where a pet is allowed, the renter must take all reasonable steps to ensure that the pet causes no damage to the property, to neighbours' property, or to others. The renter is fully responsible for all damages and extra cleaning caused by their pet. All dogs and cats must be on Advantage, Program or other anti-flea medication for at least 2 weeks before the commencement of their rental.

Booking Agreement

If you book a property through Great Spots!, your rights and obligations, and the rights and obligations of Great Spots! and the owner of the property, will be set forth in the booking agreement.

Who may use the Property

The people using the property must not differ from those stated in the booking agreement without prior agreement. If an additional person stays overnight, the owner may charge $50 for each additional person per night, and may take this levy from your security deposit.

Equipment and Furnishings

All of our properties are furnished, equipped and self-contained. However, you will need to provide your own towels and bed linens at some properties - if so, this will be stated in the description of the property. Where you are required to bring bed linens, beds will be equipped with pillows and blankets or comforters, unless otherwise specified.

Telephone

Often a telephone is provided for your convenience at a property. When making long distance calls, you are requested to call collect or to use your calling card.

Cleaning

You are responsible for leaving the property clean and tidy and in the same condition in which you found it. The furniture must be left in the same position as it was in on your arrival.

Security Deposit

When booking, you must provide authorization to charge a security deposit to your credit card or provide the security deposit by cheque. You can authorize Great Spots! to charge against your credit card an amount up to the amount of the damage deposit specified in the booking agreement required to cover damage, excessive cleaning, missing articles, unpaid telephone bills or other money owing by you with respect to the rental, as directed by the owner. Alternatively, the security deposit may be paid by cheque and deposited into our Great Spots Trust Account and refunded as noted below. Before you arrive, the property will be cleaned, the inventory checked and any missing or damaged items noted or replaced. After you leave, a further check of the property will be made by the owner or the owner's agent. Your credit card authorization will be cancelled or your security deposit returned by cheque, except to the extent of charges for damage, excessive cleaning required, missing articles, unpaid telephone bills or other money owing by you with respect to the rental, as directed by the owner. In all cases where a deduction is made, a full explanation will be given. We are not in a position to assess whether a claim against your deposit by an owner is fair - therefore we act solely on the owner's instructions when making a deduction. The credit card authorization will be cancelled, or a cheque for the security deposit will be mailed, subject to charges or reductions, within 30 days of the end of your rental period (the date of return may be extended slightly if the property has an unrestricted-access telephone, to enable the owner to receive the telephone bill for the period covering the period of your stay). Any dispute about a deduction from the damage deposit must be taken up with the owner directly.

In the Event of a Problem

If you have a problem with the property during your stay, please contact the owner or owner's agent. You will be given the name of the person to contact prior to the beginning of your vacation.
