Advantages of Renting Your Vacation Property
Vacation properties are expensive and yet they are often used only for a very short period of time each year. Renting allows you to turn your vacation property into a revenue-producing asset when you are not using it. You may also be able to deduct some of the expenses of operating your cottage. For example, some owners deduct a portion of their mortgage, maintenance costs, property taxes, supplies, utilities, and travel expenses incurred while inspecting the property (your accountant can best advise in this area). Some owners also like having their cottage occupied rather than being left vacant for extended periods of time.
Why You Should List with Great Spots!
If you decide to list with Great Spots we will provide the following services:
- If requested, provide advice on making your property more rentable and helping determine an appropriate rent for your property
- Include your property in the Great Spots! website
- Handle telephone enquiries about your property
- Handle arrangements with renters
- Arrange for fulfillment of our booking agreement
- Obtain a security (damage) deposit (by cheque or credit card) for each booking
- Collect rent for your property and remit the rent, to you, less our commission, before the commencement of each booking.

Renting through Great Spots! does not mean you are not able to use your property when you want or that you have to pay a commission for rentals you arrange. We do not require an exclusive listing. We will try to rent your property when you are not using it. If you find a renter on your own, no commission is payable to Great Spots!
In short, we take the effort out of renting your property. All you need to do is provide us with a description and photographs of your property and to arrange for cleaning of your property between rentals.
