This will be our third season renting out our cabin through Great Spots!  Our cabin is not just a “rental property” but is our second home. It is full of family memories of a tranquil, restorative time on a beautiful lake.  Renters to date have been very respectful and appreciative of their experience and we are grateful for this. We credit Heather at Great Spots who has been wonderful at doing all the organizing, screening and making the whole renting experience as comfortable for us as possible. She is excellent at communicating information and transactions quickly and efficiently and our successful experience to date is the reason we are continuing to make our property available.

How much could I earn from my property?


This depends on a number of important factors including the size of the property and how many guests you are comfortable accommodating, standard of equipment & furnishings, location, views and of course demand.

How do I receive my money?


All of our owners receive payment for bookings within 3 weeks of each booking's start date [providing the booking has been made far enough in advance].

Why would I want to list my property with Great Spots?


Listing your property with Great Spots gets you so much more than advertising in a newspaper. Instead of paying by the word for a tiny print ad, you get a whole web page to showcase your property and it's features - and it's available 24/7 to the whole world.  Your listing will have its own online photo gallery and availability calendar [a calendar you will have access to so all your bookings can be conveniently managed  in one spot!].  As well, your property could even be featured as a "Feature Property" to further enhance its exposure to potential guests.  Your property will be easily found on our website because it can be searched out based on price, availability, location, etc.

Because you're busy with life, work, school, etc., etc., you don't have to worry about missing phone calls and emails from potential guests, because we answer those enquiries for you quickly to capture as many bookings for your property as possible.  Not responding quickly enough results in your potential guests moving on to other properties all together.  Great Spots! takes the worry out of screening your guests, collecting the full rent and security [damage] deposits so you don't have to!

You won't find any print advertising with all these benefits and a human to make renting a vacation property a personal experience.

Can I be listed with Great Spots as well as get my own bookings?


Yes, we are not exclusive, so if you are obtaining bookings yourself, just let us know in plenty of time to avoid any double bookings.  You will be able to manage all your bookings through our online calendar system, designed with your needs in mind and to help make your renting experience more fun and manageable.

Do I need special insurance?


Yes, you should speak with your insurance broker to determine the best policy for your property and its purpose.  As a resource, you could go to the Insurance Broker's Association of BC

How long has Great Spots been in business?


Great Spots! was started in 1989, locally here in Vancouver.

Who are your typical renters?


Most of the guests who use the Great Spots! service are typically families, as well as couples looking for a getaway.  A lot of our guests have been renting properties from Great Spots! for years.

Can I use the property myself?


Absolutely, we encourage property owners to use their homes, especially in the off-season.  To maximize the earning potential of your property, July and August are the two busiest months, as this is when families are vacationing.

Who arranges for cleaning between rentals?


Property owners are to ensure that their property meets the expectations of guests. Our owners typically seek out a local cleaner/caretaker to ensure the property is cleaned and presented to a high standard upon arrival, with a local cleaner/caretaker contact number available to guests should there be any concerns during their stay.  Owners who live close enough to their property will often typically look after this themselves to save money.

Can I email my property photos to Great Spots?


Yes, please send them as separate jpeg files via email.

Can I add other photos later?


Yes, you can send us additional photos at any time.  There are no charges to you for adding photos to your listing and you are not limited to a minimum number of photos when you register.  Nice photos are what will sell your property and your potential guests rely on them to provide a visual of exactly what to expect.  And, as you do improvements to your property or you take photos that better represent your property, you can request to swap photos for new ones.

What if I need to change the text in my listing description?


That's no problem, just email the text / changes to us and we will ensure that your listing is updated in a timely manner.  There are no additional charges to you for us to provide this service.  We encourage all owners to ensure that the description for their property is accurate and not misleading in any way, so there are no negative surprises to your guests.

Could you write up my property description for me?


We would be happy to assist you with the description for your property, if you would like us to.  Please provide us with at least a couple of paragraphs describing your property so that we have a good basic knowledge of how your property is situated and what it has to offer to your guests.  Our writer would be happy to work with you [at no additional cost to you], to compose a description for your property that is both intriguing and inviting, while at the same time, accurate and not misleading in any way.  Your potential guests are relying on the description to give them a very true sense of exactly what they can expect when they arrive, so this plays a very important role in promoting your location.
