Alders Plantation

Gulf Islands, Salt Spring Island Vacation Rental

“Alders Plantation” is a special character home, premised after the Mississippi River plantation homes north of New Orleans. This executive home built in 1989, is 1500 sq. ft. and situated on a small cul-de-sac, just a five-minute walk through the woods to Ganges Village. The Main House features four double French doors opening onto a covered veranda with six-person hot tub that overlooks Ganges Harbour and Goat Island. The extensively landscaped 1/2 acre property features over 2,000 flowering trees, shrubs and plants. Best times to view include mid-April for the 1200+ tulips in bloom, and August – September for the “Best in Show” dahlia blooms from the 60+ dahlia plants in the display gardens. Guests can help themselves to 11 fruit trees, kiwifruit, raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb and blueberries in season.

The display gardens surround four ponds, five waterfalls and a babbling brook. Flora and fauna abound, including goldfish, ducks, turtles, frogs and five varieties of nesting birds. Flowering magnolias, clematis, wisteria and weeping willow trees complete this picture of a southern landscape.  Open lawn in front of the house allows for a game of catch or badminton.

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms (1 ensuite with shower in tub, 1 with shower), l/r with dining area, full kitchen with electric fridge and stove, m/w, d/w, w/d, telephone, heatilator woodburning fireplace, stereo/cassette/CD player wired to all rooms; wireless internet for your computer;  Satellite TV, VCR, patio chairs on veranda

3 bedrooms each with a queen, queen size hideabed in livingroom.

If you would like services such as Breakfast/Dinner Cook and Valet, price $750/wk.
