This gorgeous Gulf Island retreat is great for artists, writers, poets, photographers and nature lovers alike, seeking a special island retreat. A cosy cottage on a boat access only island [transportation is available, please see below for details] will leave remind you of simpler times.

Ruxton Island (approx. 1 mile long, 1/3 mile wide, and 200 acres in area) is a special idyllic retreat and a gem amongst a necklace of Gulf Islands and all the properties on this island are privately owned. For those seeking respite and renewal from the hustle and bustle of the modern lifestyle, look no further - if location means anything, this is as good as it gets. No power lines, roadways, stores, campsites, cars or lineups. Gabriola Island is conveniently accessed from Vancouver, Victoria or Nanaimo via BC Ferries, then access to Ruxton Island from Gabriola Island is a 20 minute crossing - the owner can transport you from Gabriola - see below for details. The peace and tranquility of the island is ensured because t is boat-only access. Cell phones work well.
The forested paths and easy walking trails around the island lead you to several gorgeous natural sandstone beaches and weathered shorelines, (great for swimming, excellent kayaking and stunning vistas). A large pristine natural pond on the Island is home to a variety of birds.

The charming hand-crafted 850 sq. ft. cottage is set on a quiet secluded sunny ridge on a 1.25 acre property amidst gorgeous natural surroundings of arbutus, maple, and fir trees and the ground cover is predominantly Oregon grape and salal. There are glimpses of the ocean through the woods and the closest beach is about a 5 minute walk. The cottage is fully furnished and comfortably equipped for 4 guests.
