his comfortable waterfront cottage is located on 1 acre on unspoiled Lasqueti Island and offers a perfect holiday spot for those who like beauty and peace and quiet - it's quite private and not visible from the road. The island can only be reached by way of a passenger ferry which contributes to the feeling of a true getaway location. The cottage’s sundeck is about 6 ft. from a low bank to the waterfront. Access is by a staircase.There is a wonderful, wide, view across the Sabine Channel to Texada Island. The house is simply but adequately furnished. Guests may like to bring their own bicycles for shopping and exploring the island.
There are caves to explore very close by. The south end of the island, Squitty Bay is a protected area with a different mini climate and geography of its own.-- very interesting. Hikes along the beach in both directions are fun. It is a very interesting and varied beach with smooth sandstone in some places, or huge boulders that have fallen from the cliffs hundreds of years ago and your normal rocky beach - some large rocks, some gravel areas and some fine sandy beach areas. There are tide pools to explore and animals to watch for. Otters are often seen on the rocks at this property or swimming by and there is an eagle's nest next door - watch them fish occasionally. There is a heron who fishes in front of this property in the evening. There are no predatory animals on Lasqueti- no bears, cougars, wolves, foxes.
Lasqueti has a drier climate than even Parksville and Qualicum. The island is about 13 miles long by about 3 - 4 miles wide. There is one main road down the middle with a few side roads. A main attraction near this property is Jedediah Island, which is being preserved as a sort of park. If you have any questions about this property, please contact us.
Facilities:
2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, living room/dining area, full kitchen with propane gas stove and apart. size fridge, wood stove for heating, TV (12 volt, black and white, 2 channels), telephone, piano, 3 chaise lounges and 3 deck chairs, gas barbecue with side burner, table with umbrella and 4 chairs. A generator is available for power. Coleman gas and kerosene lanterns and flashlights are also provided.N.B. The owners will meet renters and transport them to the cottage and back to the ferry. A 1989 jeep cherokee is provided for transportation to the store if needed - as well as 2 adult bicycles. If the vehicle is used for sightseeing, the gas used should be replaced
Sleeping:
1 bedroom with queen size bed, loft with 1 double bed and 1 single bed. There is a double sized inflatable mattress which can be used in the storage room to turn it into a makeshift bedroom. Pets:
