Paradise Lake 6-D-1

Thompson Okanagan, Paradise Lake Vacation Rental

We are pleased to represent this log cabin on Paradise Lake, located approximately 40 minutes east of Merritt (or 40 minutes west of Kelowna) off the Merritt Okanagan connector of the Coquihalla Highway. The ‘resort’ itself consists of 10 acres of secluded lakefront property, approximately 25 cabins, and is the only development permitted on the Lake. The resort is a year round family recreational area offering swimming, fishing and hiking in the spring and summer, a base for hunters during the fall and a centre for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and other winter sports during the winter. Paradise Lake is a high alpine lake situated in rolling pine-forested mountains. There is a small play area for children with swings and a slide. The resort is within 10 minutes of Elkhart Lodge which offers full dining facilities and horseback riding. Electricity has been recently brought into the resort. The cottage has hot and cold running water and is heated by a propane furnace and a very efficient and attractive woodburning stove.

Paradise Lake is approx. 1 mile long and 3/4 of a mile wide with beautiful clean, clear water. The perimeter of the lake has an area of sandy shoreline with a gradually sloping bottom which provides for easy entrance to the lake for boats and a safe place to swim. The lake is an excellent fishing lake for the beginner and average fisherman with abundant rainbow trout ranging in weight up to 1 kg. The lake is fed by natural streams year around which ensures that there is adequate oxygen during the winter and spawning grounds during the spring and summer. As well, there are over 20 other excellent trophy fishing lakes in the area, some having easy access from Paradise Lake and others being inaccessible by vehicle but having good trails leading from the Lake. Ardent canoeists will love exploring Bob Lake, a series of 3 small lakes joined by narrow waterways which are only traverseable with a canoe. Paradise Lake is primarily for canoes and row boats in summer and is restricted to boats with 9.9 hp motors to preserve the tranquillity of the area and protect the wildlife, which includes loons, osprey, herons, beavers and eagles.  The area is wonderful in summer but winter as well brings its own special magic to the cottages on Paradise Lake. If you wish to venture from your fireplace, the area is excellent for tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling over several miles of beautiful trails, and at night, ice-fish under the stars! Enjoy Christmas in this winter wonderland.

There is a full-time caretaker on the property who will be pleased to answer any questions from our guests and provide assistance as needed. The caretaker and his family live in a log cabin lodge which has 4 rooms available on a bed and breakfast basis. Should our guests wish to dine (unlicensed) at the lodge, this can be arranged directly with the caretaker. Cellular phone and fax are available at the lodge for emergency use. Row boats are available for rent.

This attractive, log cabin, set amid tall pines, is situated just steps from Paradise Lake and has a beautiful view over the water to the tops of mountains and the forest on the other side of the lake. The cabin is comfortably furnished in a country style and provides a very cozy and home-like base from which to enjoy all that this recreational area has to offer, both in summer and in winter. In winter the area is particularly great for snowmobiling, x-country skiing and ice skating. There is a private dock with a canoe and a rowboat for your enjoyment in the summer
