Renovated home with a view of the ocean. Bright and spacious, also quite private. Full-length sundeck accessed through living room and kitchen. Large rock fireplace/hearth. Sleeps four to six people. Two washrooms. Five-minute walk to quaint marina, Yacht club, waterfront pub/restaurant, kayak rental shop, and internet cafe/ice-cream parlour. Lakes abundant in the area. Grocer, cafe, shops, medical centre and other amenities in close vicinity at Madeira Park.

The home is situated on a small oceanic peninsula in Pender Harbour, It is but a five-minute (downhill) walk to both the John Henry marina on Hospital Bay, and the Vancouver Yacht Club on Garden Bay. There is a waterfront pub and restaurant, an ice-cream parlour and a kayak rental shop in close vicinity to the marinas. Internet access is available at the general store and at the ice-cream shop. Art galleries, groceries, videos, books, and other amenities can be found at Madeira Park, which is a five minute boat ride away (or a 20 minute drive).

The picturesque setting of this place can be viewed from a thirty-minute hike up Pender Hill. Lakes are plentiful in the area, some with sandy beaches, others with docks or rocky edges to jump from. A five-minute walk around the peninsula takes you to an ocean beach that is part pebble and part flat rock.

The house itself is a rancher in earthy tones, with a nicely landscaped yard. There is a full-length sundeck at the back, which can be accessed from both sides of the house. A small, two-tiered, level lawn in the front yard can be used for lawn games such as bowling, darts and badminton. The driveway can take two cars, and additional vehicles can be parked on the gravel shoulder across the narrow street, which borders a forested, unoccupied lot. There is a small shaded deck with a bench at the front of the house. The entrance gives onto a living room with full-sized windows overlooking the sundeck, and the bay and marina below. A large, rock hearth/fireplace gives the home a cozy feel. There are sliding doors to access the sundeck from both the living room and the bright kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, and has the convenience of a microwave and dishwasher. Behind the kitchen, there is a washroom (toilet and sink only) and a laundry room with washer, dryer and large utility sink. A short hallway leads away from the living room, to a large washroom (containing, bath, shower and two sinks) and three sleeping rooms. One room has a double bed, one room has a set of pine bunk beds, and the spare room has two inflatable sleeping mattresses to accommodate a fifth and sixth person. Each room has a large closet and a set of shelves or dresser for storage.

Overall, the house has a bright and spacious feel to it. It is private, with only two neighbours; a high hedge separates the nearest one, and the other is a good 100 m away. The neighborhood has a quiet, rural quality though amenities are right at hand. It's a perfect place to experience coastal living in a quaint part of BC.

In the Area:

Five-minute walk to small marina on Hospital bay, general store, RVYC Yacht club on Garden Bay, waterfront pub/restaurant, kayak rental shop, ice-cream parlor, internet cafe, and rocky ocean beach. Lots of lakes in the area for swimming and fishing in, all within 5 to 15 minute drive. Two hikes to view points nearby (Pender Hill and Daniel Point). Medical centre, grocery store, video outlet, book store, art galleries, funky cafe, restaurant, all in Madeira Park (five minutes by boat, 20 minutes by car). Also a delightful art gallery on Garden Bay road (10 minutes away). Other small coastal towns to explore in area.

Rates:

end of June to after Labour Day; Christmas / New Years; Spring Break; Easter and long weekends:
$200/nt (minimum 3 nights)
$1200/wk (7 nights for the price of 6)

Balance of the Year:
$180/night (minimum 3 nights)
$1080/week (7 nights for the price of 6)

Check-in time is 4:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am on the day of departure

Rates are subject to the following:
  • 12% Harmonized Sales Tax [HST]
  • If you choose the option of paying by credit card, 3% credit card fee only applies to amounts charged to your card
  • $42 booking fee
