Aldergrove Beach Cottage

Vancouver Island, Courtenay Vacation Rental

This newly renovated waterfront home provides a very comfortable way to enjoy your own beach and all that the Comox Valley has to offer. Located just north of Comox, the 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage is on half an acre with 100 feet of waterfront. The stunning views of the Straight of Georgia and the coastal mountains on the B.C. mainland provide an ever changing backdrop for a great holiday.

The Comox Valley has activities for everyone. Go beachcombing just outside your door, or enjoy hiking, biking or picnics in nearby Seal Bay, Kitty Coleman and Miracle Beach Provincial Parks. Go golfing at any, or all of the nearby courses. Try salmon fishing, whale watching, or kayaking. Take a day trip on a ferry to Denman and Hornby Islands, drive to Comox lake, or shop, dine out, or attend markets and festivals in Comox or Courtenay. In winter, it is an easy 40 minute drive for skiing at Mt.Washington.

The cottage and property have a very private and natural feel. It is on a rural street but is within minutes of town and all the amenities you will need. You will see deer, herons, eagles and a variety of birdlife everyday. You will likely see seals on the beach below and may even see orcas from the windows or deck. On the beach you will find a variety of marine life amongst the rocks and in the tide pools. The boat traffic, which includes barges, fishing boats and cruise ships bound for Alaska also add interest to the view.

Create special family meals in the gourmet kitchen or on the gas grill. Enjoy dining on the deck or inside, and then have a pleasant evening on the beach, around a campfire, roasting marshmallows.

On those lazy or rainy days, help yourself to the movies, books, games and puzzles. Enjoy the fireplace, the warmth of the wood floors and the hummingbirds at the feeder outside the window.

Facilities:

The kitchen is new and includes a dishwasher and all the accessories you will need. There are three newly decorated and furnished bedrooms each with a queen size bed and 2 bathrooms. The living area has a fireplace, and new TV and childrens' play rooms have recently been added. The new deck is large and provides areas for relaxing, dining and barbequing. There is a lower garden near the water with fruit trees and a shaded sitting area near the beach. Many areas for campfires exist on the beach.

Sleeping:

The cottage has three 3 bedrooms each with a queen bed. Linens are provided. The master bedroom on the lower level, has recently been enlarged, has an ensuite and a view of the garden and the water.  All bedroom windows open and have screens.

Other Amenities:

A variety of books, board games, puzzles, DVD movies and binoculars are provided. There are marshmallow roasting sticks and tools for digging and messing around down on the beach.

In the Area:

Getting here is easy. The Comox airport is 15 minutes from the house and is serviced by regular direct flights from most major western Canadian cities. Comox and Courtenay, the major centres in the Comox valley, have many great restaurants, coffee shops, markets, shops, movie theatres, parks and festivals. Both towns are only 15 minutes from the beach house. Enjoy golf, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, or shopping, eating out, festivals and theatres; a detailed directory of where to go and what to do is provided at the house for your use and information.

Rates:

May-Sept. and Dec. 15-Jan. 15 & Spring Break:  $1400/wk or $250/nt [3 nt min]
1 week minimum from end of June to after Labour Day

Oct.-Dec. 14 and Jan. 16-April 30:  $1000/wk or $150/nt [3 nt min]

Saturday to Saturday

• 12% Harmonized Sales Tax [HST]
• If you choose the option of paying by credit card, 3% credit card fee only applies to amounts charged to your card
• $42 booking fee

Renters' Comments:

When we fist came in and saw the spectacular view - wow.... we couldn't believe it was real.  We never went out for dinner, we had BBQ, whenever possible, on the deck and afterwards we were sitting in the cozy living room in front of the fireplace.  From time to time, a big cruiseship with hundreds of lights passed by.   We spent a really great and memorable time in your house and back home in Switzerland, we will recommend to all our friends, this Great Spot.  Thanks a lot for the tasty wine and for sharing your house with us.
