Invermuir Manor House

Welcome to Invermuir Manor House, a secluded west coast getaway, featuring a spectacular view across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Port Angeles and the Olympic Mountains. This three bedroom rancher features a spacious living room, one and a half bathrooms, dining room and kitchen. Nestled amongst flower gardens and cedar trees, the front patio is a perfect spot to put your feet up, and watch the ocean and passing ships. Deer and eagles are often seen (there is an eagle nest on the property/ please do not disturb). Built in the 1950's, it is situated on a 20 acre ocean front parcel located 14 kms NW of Sooke along Hwy. 14.

This property is a perfect retreat for couples seeking seclusion, families looking for adventure or artists and professionals yearning for an idyllic sanctuary from which to create. Invermuir Manor House offers endless possibilities to re-energize, rejuvenate, and soak up the stunning oceanfront beauty of Canada's West Coast.

The property sits on flat land approximately 200 ft. above the beach. A use at your own risk trail lets the fit and adventurous take a five minute hike down to the beach. The more prudent can walk or drive 5 km down the highway and access our beach via Muir Creek. The beach below the Manor is a natural wild West Coast beach. Crabs and sea stars abound as do the many seals that keep an eye on you! Otters are sometimes also seen. Sandy swimming beaches are a short car ride away.

Invermuir Manor House is also a great base from which to explore the many attractions in the area. French Beach and Sandcut Beach are a few kms along Hwy 14, as is China Beach which is the designated southern terminus of the Juan de Fuca Trail. Also in close proximity is East Sooke Park, with its many hiking trails and Jordan River and Sombrio Beach which are both havens for surfers and lovers of large waves. Further afield, but well worth the drive, is the town of Port Renfrew and the world famous Botanical Marine Park, where you can view spectacular marine life and explore clear tidal pools.

The owners have their own cottage on the same property, but you cannot see that cottage from the Manor House. A shared driveway accesses the property.

If traveling to Vancouver Island by ferry, BC Ferries reservations are recommended

Renters' Comments

"...Our vacation at the Sooke Manor House was a refreshing experience. It is very conveniently located: a short travel distance from home, and not far from shops and restaurants. We brought a soccer ball for the large grassy area, and our children enjoyed riding their bikes around the house and up the lane to the road. On a few crisp evenings, sitting beside a crackling fire, we saw cruise ships sailing past in the distance. Inside, manor house is spacious, clean, well equipped and is laid out with big windows to take advantage of its spectacular setting. The huge collection of children videos provided an hour of entertainment for our boys each morning while we sat on the patio with our morning coffee, watching hummingbirds and enjoying the huge, peaceful view. Most important for us was the silence, fresh air and privacy, located
close to beaches and outdoor exploring. We haven't done our 2008 summer vacation planning yet, but I hope that a week at Sooke Manor House is part of it!..." -Phil.

"...I'm a city boy so it takes a long time to convince me to spend a vacation somewhere without a movie theatre or a sushi bar. How lucky I was that my family forced me to take a chance on the Manor House. I was finally able to beat that city mentality out of my brain and have one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had. I had never been to Sooke before. And being able to stay in the Manor House instead of some stuffy hotel was a dream come through. The place is well stocked with books and videos for the kids. The beds are all comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for that Barbecue. The sunsets are gorgeous and the thrilling path down to the beach left us giggling. I've never been so relaxed in my life. Truly a wonderful family vacation spot. The Manor House truly welcomed our family and we hope to return next year..."- Jay Brazeau and Family
